One of the most successful Indian Business Mogul, Mukesh Ambani is the chairman and managing director of Indian Conglomerate Reliance Industries. This is based on Indian energy and materials. He had a rough start as a gas station attendant in Yemen. Gradually the family shifted to Mumbai where his father Dhirubhai Ambani and his cousin started Reliance Industries. It was based on commodities trading business.
Mukesh Ambani did bachelors in chemical engineering and also pursued master’s in business administration from Stanford University. After a certain period of time, he quit that in middle in order to join the family business in order to expand his small business to various areas which apparently included communications, petrochemicals, polyester fibres and also gas oil production.
Following his father’s death in 2002, he and his brother took over the Reliance Industries under joint leadership. Later considering the fight between the brothers, the company shares were divided between them and Mukesh took control of the gas, oil and petrochemicals under RIL. In 2006, he was chosen to cochair the India Economic Summit of World Economic Summit to discuss about the global business, economy, global commerce and important social issues.
In 2007, the Economic Times, named Mukesh Ambani as the world’s richest man and the following year, he went on to create Mumbai Indians, an Indian Premier League cricket team.
